< Back to All Resources

This article from the Journal of Addiction Medicine addresses the role of family members in prevention, treatment, and recovery from SUD. Researchers state that family members play a central yet underutilized role in the lives of many individuals with SUDs and can have a significant impact on treatment outcomes. Evidence has shown that adopting a family-centric model can improve health outcomes for all family members and reduce adolescent substance use, in addition to improving the outcomes of the family member receiving SUD treatment.
